Terms of Service
Last updated: October 14, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and markdown.host ("we", "us") for using the markdown.host website, editor, API, and MCP server (the "service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. Who can use markdown.host
You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you use the service for an organization, you confirm you can bind it to these terms.
2. Your account
You sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for activity in your account and for keeping your API tokens secret: anyone, including an AI agent, using one of your tokens acts on your behalf. Revoke a token from your account page if you think it leaked, and tell us at [email protected] about any unauthorized use.
3. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents, images, and other content you put on markdown.host. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, process, and display your content only as needed to run the service: for example syncing it between your devices, rendering it, and serving the pages you publish to their visitors and to search engines. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies kept briefly in backups.
You confirm you have the right to upload and publish your content and that it doesn't break these terms or anyone else's rights.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use markdown.host to create, store, or publish:
- anything illegal, or content that promotes illegal activity;
- malware, phishing pages, scams, or deceptive impersonation of people or organizations;
- spam, including pages made mainly to manipulate search rankings;
- harassment, threats, hate speech, or content that exploits or endangers children;
- sexual content involving minors, or intimate images shared without consent;
- content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, or privacy rights.
Also don't attack or overload the service, get around limits or security measures, create accounts in bulk, scrape other users' private data, or use markdown.host only as file hosting for other websites.
5. AI agents and the API
You can connect AI agents and scripts through our API and MCP server. You are responsible for what they do with your account, including content they publish. API use is subject to rate limits, and we may change the API as the service evolves.
6. Reporting and removal
Report content that breaks these terms to [email protected]; every published page has a Report link. We may remove or restrict content and suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the law, or that put the service or other people at risk. Where it is appropriate and safe, we'll tell you why.
Copyright notices: if you believe content infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the URL, a description of the work, your contact details, and a statement that the information is accurate and that you own or represent the rights. We handle notices under Canada's notice-and-notice regime and other applicable laws, and may forward them to the person who posted the content.
7. Plans, limits, and changes
The service currently has a free plan with storage and usage limits shown on your account page. We may offer paid plans later; we will never charge you without your explicit agreement. We may add, change, or remove features and limits.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using markdown.host and delete your account at any time from your account page; download your data first if you want a copy. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if required by law.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep your data safe, but we don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, so keep your own copies of important documents (the editor keeps local copies in your browser, and you can download everything from your account page). To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, markdown.host is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or revenue. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 100 Canadian dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province in which markdown.host is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that province, unless the law where you live as a consumer gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, notify signed-in users before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
13. Open source
The markdown.host editor is built on Markdown Viewer by Baivab Sarkar and contributors, licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
